The perfect estate agent website address!
OK so it’s not our normal auctioneering subject but an auction’s an auction right? And this Lot is more interesting than a repossessed semi in Solihull. And apparently all men think about sex at least once an hour. (I know, I know, the usual male riposte to that is ‘women don’t think’) So we thought we would share it with you.
Possibly the most valuable internet domain name ever is to be auctioned next week - www.sex.com.
DOM Partners LLC, a New Jersey lender that backed a 2006 purchase of the domain name for a reported $14 million (£9.3m), is foreclosing on the Internet property, and is due to auction it on March 18 at New York law firm Windels Marx Lane & Mittendorf LLP, according to legal notices.
Bidding for the Internet property, the tumultuous past of which includes several lawsuits and two books, is due to start at $1 million.
Richard Maltz, an auctioneer at Maltz Auctions who is running the sale, said there was considerable interest in it. Have a look at
http://www.maltzauctions.com/auction_list.php
where the sale is listed under, ‘Upcoming Auctions’ which is quite appropriate. All the details are there, although there is no picture of the ‘property’.
"We don't know who's serious and who's not, but prospective bidders need a $1 million certified check. It should be interesting." Mr. Maltz said his firm was arranging for potential buyers to also be able to bid online.
